The Lizard Lounge Slam Team is taking over!!

The slam team will host a night with more poetry and more poets! We’re hoping to create additional opportunities for poets to share their work, offer more open mic space, and provide room for themed events, alternative formats, and exciting experiments.

Whether you’re a regular with a weekly seat or stepping down our stairs for the first time, we invite you to join as we celebrate how poetry challenges and connects us. Each Takeover will be a little different, but each time we’ll be booting Blake off the stage. Come see what happens when we hand the keys to the poets.

For August, we're doing the Echoes of Summer...

As August reminds us that summer won't last forever, we're inviting our open mic poets to help us capture the season before it slips away. Bring poems about sunshine, fireflies, road trips, change, nostalgia or whatever feels like summer to you. The theme is an invitation, not a requirement.

Then we'll head into the Echo Slam. Each poet will "echo" a phrase or line from the poet before them. Miss your echo? You'll receive a small penalty. The goal is to create a thread connecting the entire slam from the sacrificial to the winner.
