Prince Shapiro
Prince Shapiro is an Azanian-born poet, edutainer, navigating with communities through the transformative power of poetry.
Raised in the Transkei and now based in Massachusetts, Prince Shapiro has exhibited his artistic muscle for youth and adults across schools, prisons, universities, and arts centers in Africa, including America.
Blending African oral traditions with contemporary spoken word, his edutainment invites participants to find their voices, tell their stories, and write with purpose. His work centers around healing, identity, liberation, and social justice—encouraging self-expression as a tool for personal and collective transformation.
Prince Shapiro is the co-founder of Sounds of Edutainment, an initiative that uses music, poetry, and storytelling to educate and inspire. He is also a member of Men of the Past future band.
He has contributed to various arts programs in communities such as Incarcerated Societies in Johannesburg Correctional Services, Artistic Community of Street Performers for the Jo’burg Carnival, and he designed poetry sessions for Alexandra Township Community Radio Station.
His poetry and empowering style draw from indigenous knowledge systems, percussion, and pan-African consciousness, making his sessions dynamic and deeply resonant.
Whether working with students, educators, activists, or artists, Prince Shapiro brings a grounded, soulful presence that uplifts and transforms.
His performances are about reclaiming voice, honoring heritage, and awakening human potential…
