Mwalim DaPhunkee Professor is a multi-award-winning, interdisciplinary artist and educator, whose works span the mediums of spoken word, theater, music, film, literature, and scholarly works. A vocalist and pianist of jazz, soul and house music, His recent novel LAND of the BLACK SQUIRRELS is available through his website and will soon be in reprint. He is the co-founder and music director for the multi-Grammy nominated indie soul-funk band, The GroovaLottos; the owner of Polyphonic Studios in Wareham, MA and the head of production for Poly-Groove Records. Mwalim is a tenured associate professor of English, Communications and Black Studies at UMass Dartmouth. Mwalim has been on a quest to unlock the sonic mathematics of the guitar since January of 2022, leading to the creation of a project called "Thunderchild" a story-song performance work and album.
